Trigger Client Assignment

Write a paper on a client or a group of clients you think you would not feel as comfortable working with. The professional ethical codes and state laws require that we only provide therapy that benefits our clients, and that we limit our practice to our areas of training & competency. When it comes to clients who make us uncomfortable or trigger our issues and biases, we simply avoid working with them. However, our ethical codes also require us to represent the field with integrity, and to practice non-discrimination particularly when it comes to areas of diversity such as gender, race, religion, sexual identity, age, etc.

Please do the following:

Reflect about what makes you reactive to this type of client, and write a brief statement about this.

Identify two types of clients who may bring up discomfort or bias for you: A client with some particular type of presenting problem, and a client with some particular type of multicultural identity.

 Examples might include

 Types of presenting problems

Clients who have battered a partner or child

Clients with sexual attractions to children

Clients with substance abuse issues

Clients with severe mental illness

Clients with a “dual diagnosis” (mental health and substances use)

Clients with intense anger issues

Clients who were sexually unfaithful to a partner

Clients with sever trauma in their history

                      Types of multicultural identity

Clients from a particular racial group that you know little about, or have stereotypes about

Clients from a class background much different from your own

Clients from a particular type of religious background that you believe may be in conflict with your own religious or spiritual beliefs.

Client from a sexual or gender minority group that you feel unsure or uncomfortable with

Clients with an identity similar to someone who harmed you in the past

Clients from a majority group that has oppressed people in your group

Research both the types of clients you have identified as triggering for you.

use books, book chapters, and journal articles that will help you learn more about individuals from these groups.

Source must be published within the last 5 years, and must be in scholarly publications or books. You may include, however, one or two less-scholarly sources as long as most of your sources are scholarly. Use as many references as you need to feel that you have a significantly improved understanding of the two groups you are studying.

write a paper summarizing what you have learned about each of these groups. Make sure you consider their common experiences, typical needs from counseling, ways in which counseling may not have met their needs well, and common counselor beliefs or stereotypes about them.

If you can find information on how counselors can reduce bias toward such clients or work effectively with them, include it.

Write about how you might appropriately work with people from this group, given your past experiences and what you now know.

The paper should be as long as it takes to clearly and succinctly cover the material

You are to provide a security architectural design for a new, internet-based bank that you are setting up,

having been granted a banking license under the new “No More Squirrelling” legislation recently passed

by the Federal Government.

The requirements for this design are described below.

Because you are dealing with a bank, a number of security concerns at various levels need to be

addressed in your architecture:

1. Compliance with federal and state legislation,

2. Public confidence in your enterprise by providing confidentiality, availability and integrity of

customer data,

3. Privacy of customer data,

4. Interoperation with other financial institutions, both nationally and internationally,

5. Compliance with international standards,

6. Security of all bank assets,

7. Current trends in customer engagement via the internet

Your design needs to deal with enterprise architectural issues relating to application security,

platform/OS security, network security and storage security.

The decision has been made to run the bank’s IT operations in a Cloud environment.

Place a spinvane and 0.05 g of magnesium turnings into an oven-dried 5-nth conical vial. 2. Attach the Claisen adapter to the conical vial. On the curved joint, attach a drying tube filled with calcium chloride. Place a Teflon-rubber septum and screw cap on the straight portion of the adapter. Clamp the appa-ratus so that it sits centered on a heater-stirrer (no stirring at first and NO HEATING). 3. Measure 4 nth of anhydrous diethyl ether in a second 5-mL conical vial and cap it. You should use this diethyl ether to make the solutions needed throughout this experiment 4. Weigh a 3-mL conical vial and dispense 0.35 mL of bromobenzene into the vial. Reweigh the vial to deter-mine the weight of the bromobenzene and record this in your lab notebook. 5. Add 1.0 mL of diethyl ether to the vial containing the bromobenzene. Using your syringe, add 0.40 mL of this solution to the reaction apparatus through the Teflon septum. At this point of the reaction you should observe the evolution of bubbles and/or the solution should become cloudy or pale yellow indicating the reaction has started. If the reaction does not start, remove the rubber septum from the apparatus and insert a microspatula and twist it so as to crush the magnesium against the glass surface. This should break some magnesium pieces and start the reaction. 6. Add the remaining solution of bromobenzene from the syringe slowly over a period of 5 min. Rinse the ini-tial vial containing bromobenzene with 0.5 mL of diethyl ether and transfer to the reaction vessel (this assists in achieving quantitative transfer of the bromobenzene). The reaction mixture should stir for an additional 15 min.

The life time of a heavy lift machine is normally distributed, with mean of 7.2 years and standard deviation of 2.3 years.

a.If the manufacturer guarantees the machine for 3 years, what is the chance that a randomly chosen machine will wear out before the guarantee has expired?

b.If the manufacturer is willing to replace only 2% of all machines due to early failure, how should he change the guarantee?

c.If we choose a sample of 20 machines, what is the chance that the average life time for the sample is less than 8 years?

Prisoners' Dilemma. One version is as follows. Two prisoners are accused of a crime. If one confesses and the other does not, the one who confesses will be released immediately and the other will spend 20 years in prison. If neither confesses, each will be held only a few months. If both confess, they will each be jailed 15 years. They cannot communicate with one another. Given that neither prisoner knows whether the other has confessed, it is in the self-interest of each to confess himself. Paradoxically, when each prisoner pursues his self-interest, both end up worse off than they would have been had they acted otherwise.

Discuss the follow questions: Does the Prisoner’s Dilemma accurately depict real life? How? In what ways does it not reflect real life? What does the game tell you about the conditions needed for cooperation to exist?
